How to get a humanist wedding in:
Poland
Who offers a humanist wedding in Poland?
Humanist weddings in Poland are offered by The Polish Rationalist Association – PRA (Polskie Stowarzyszenie Racjonalistów, PSR).
Languages offered:
PRA offers ceremonies in English, Spanish, French, Norwegian and Polish.
How to book a humanist wedding in Poland:
First, you make initial contact (see contact info below), where you share the desired time, place, wishes and preferences for the wedding.
PRA will thereafter check which of their celebrants are available for the time and place you want. You will then be sent an offer and an agreement with an advance payment. If you sign the agreement, the detailed planning of the wedding can continue with as many meetings with the celebrant as required for you to be satisfied.
The speech and the program will also be shared with the PRA’s ceremonies coordinator , so they can take over in case something unforeseen happens. 3 days before the ceremony, you pay the remaining amount of the fee.

Do we get to choose the humanist wedding celebrant ourselves?
PRA usually suggests the services of the celebrant living close to the selected venue, but if you have a specific celebrant in mind, you can of course mention the name. You may also contact the celebrant directly, however the contract will be signed with the ceremonies coordinator from PRA. The list of celebrants is available here.
Price:
The price ranges from PLN 1500 to 2300 (€345-540). There are ample possibilities to get a discount. Read more here.
How to get in touch:
You could send an email to slub@psr.org.pl or use this contact form.
You may also check PRA’s social media accounts dedicated to humanist weddings:
The feeds are in Polish, but if you send a message in English, you will get a reply in English.
The boring legal part
PRA is not authorized to perform legally binding weddings in Poland. Neither do they require that you are legally married in Poland or elsewhere, before they can offer you a humanist wedding ceremony.
If you want to book a civil, legally binding wedding in Poland prior to the ceremony, PRA will be able to help you through the legal requirements. If you want to figure it out for yourselves, this webpage is a good place to start. It is possible to combine a humanist and a civil wedding into one ceremony if organized outside of the Civil Registry Office.
If you are legally wed in another country, you can of course bring that certificate to the humanist wedding in Poland, but it is not a requirement since the ceremony, as mentioned, is purely symbolic and unofficial.
- Note: Polish marriage law is sadly not gender neutral. The Polish Rationalist Association is however happy to perform symbolic humanist weddings to everyone who wants one, regardless of gender.
- In December 2023, the European Court of Human Rights ruled that by failing to legalise same-sex unions, Poland had violated the right to respect for private and family life. Read more.
