What is a humanist wedding?
A humanist wedding ceremony is a celebration of love, equality and mutual respect
Humanist weddings are romantic ceremonial expressions of sincere vows to share the rest of one’s life together in mutual love and respect.
Humanist weddings can be can be either symbolic or legally binding, and are often set in spectacular outdoors environments, beautiful indoor settings or wherever you prefer.
In 2024, all partners of EHSN (European Humanist Services Network) negotiated and agreed on a joint European standard for humanist weddings and promised develop their humanist wedding services accordingly.
One of the provisions is that a humanist wedding must be decisively shaped by the marrying individual´s desires and wishes in co-creation with an approved humanist ceremony leader.
The standard consists of requirements, recommendations and measures to secure the quality of humanist wedding services across borders. In 2025, all EHSN-partners listed on this website will be formally accredited according to this standard.
